Psalm 56:3/4
3 When I am afraid,
I will put my trust and faith in You.
4 In God, whose word I praise;
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not fear.
What can mere man do to me?
We all have fear to deal with at some time or other and the enemy of our souls Satan is good at reminding us of our past experiences that can even drive such fear in us as we think we could relive the pain and desperation of these situations. To add to this dilemna there isn’t a limit to what our brains can concoct that is potentially fearful, some of it legitimate and some of it irrational. Either way, we can find hope and an anchor in the storm called FEAR in God because he has a lot to say about fear in scripture. “Fear not…” is a common reminder in the Word, because we are often forgetful and we can try to imagine the future before it has even happened…leading to a lot of fear and anxiety. Jesus reminds us that we can trust God as our good Father. He will fight for us. He will cover us and protect us. He will calm the storms in our minds and hearts. All he asks is that we turn our eyes from our fears to Him.
The wonderful thing is God truly understands our frailities and he will help us with our needs.
A simple prayer I have prayed many times is "Lord help me with my unbelief"
Or simply "Abbah Father I am feeling fearful, help me to trust you Lord"
We can be naked and unashamed before God.
What helps us to come into a place of trust too is reminding ourselves of all those "almost falling of the cliff" experiences we have had. Where God rescued and delivered us right on time.
I also like to do this - think of the worst that could happen in that particular situation, then remind yourself of this fact, even in the worst God CAN make a way AND NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO DO.
Sometimes we may need to speak to the fear and all other attachments to fear of worry, anxiety, some types of depression and more. Speak God’s promises and we will begin to build our faith. Faith does come by hearing and hearing the word of God.
May these words be our confessions concerning fear:
Psalm 34:1 - 6
1I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. 2 I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart. 3 Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.
4 I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. 6 In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles.
I pray Father you will deliver us of every fear - fear of man, fear of poverty and lack, fear of dying, fear of any kind. Deliver us O God. Help us with our unbelief. Birth new hope and trust in us. Keep us in your peace. Keep our eyes fixed and focused on you.
In Jesus mighty name
We pray
Walk Good in Christ
Till we meet again
