Subject:
What Do You Do When Human Strength Fails?
Scripture References:
(1 Corinthians 10:13, 2 Samuel 11:14-17 & 1 John 1:9).
In 1 Corinthians 10:13, The Apostle Paul says that God provides us an escape route whenever we are tempted ( somewhat like a canopy/covering).
However, what happens when you and I refuse to take the help we are provided and, instead; we implement our own preconceived ideas?
Eventually, our canopy of human strength fails, here; we succumb to temptation. Beloved(s) so it was with King David. He’d experience The LORD’S rescue countless times however; he still allowed temptation to dictate and charter his course, mind and his very actions. This however, was not void of consequences.
In today’s Lesson, we see that David took some time off and stayed at the palace, this probably appeared harmless enough—one of the perks of being king.
Of course, David having requested Bathsheba’s presence must have seemed like a pathway to pleasure.
Here, these choices led to the vicious murder of Bathsheba’s husband Uriah who was a noble man and; a general in his army ( 2 Samuel 11:14-17).
The Murder of Uriah-Bathsheba’s husband was not only a conspiracy orchestrated by David, it was ultimately enveloped in a cover up.
Notwithstanding...The LORD demanded accountability.
Like David, we need to consider the company we keep, places we go and; choices we make as relatively harmless.
No sooner, after we have succumbed to temptation, ( fed the fleshy appetite) we’re filled with utter regret.
As we can see, fortunately; that is not the end of the story for the king and; neither for us. David’s heartfelt repentance was accepted by God and; if we confess, ours will be, too.
Ask The LORD today for discernment to recognize the temptations in front of you and; the strength to take His way of escape.
Lets Pray
Father, our heart is most often willing yet; our human flesh is weak. I commit my will to You today Father, help me to decrease and; You increase in me.
Not my will Father, Your will instead.
Take the desire to showcase my ego and, to replace this with Your discernment and humility.
Grant me Wisdom to function when given the unction, let Your blood covering be my portion and protection.
Grant me favor with those whom I come in contact with today, in Jesus’ Name, amen.
