What to do about enemies?

No matter who we are or who we become in this life, it is inevitable that we will have enemies

We shouldn't put our focus on the enemies at all in fact the Apostle Paul gives us the truth on this matter - "We do not wrestle against flesh and blood"

And next he lists the different heirachy of the "spiritual" enemies gathered in Satan's army.

So who is our real enemy?

Satan and his forces gathered against every Christian.

God’s instruction is to "BLESS OUR ENEMIES" see Romans 12.

God’s does seperate some individuals though as it may be in the best interest of keeping the peace for some individuals not to be together. However, it is still of necessity that one will bless the one who caused the hurt, pain or betrayal. It becomes more important to do what God says concerning forgiveness, than appeasing the flesh with revenge. The steps outlined in God’s word concerning forgiveness and blessing our enemies truly cause us to walk in freedom

We do not understand the ways of God and he may even reconcile us with those who we considered "enemies" at one stage or another. My heart is always towards reconciliation, but we must be careful to stay in God’s will. Some people though we befriend and love them, do not belong in the place of "our close circle" as they become accountability partners in that place and therefore have the authority to speak into our lives.

Here are an interesting adaptation from a writing by Martin Luther King

Now there is a final reason I think that Jesus says, "Love your enemies." It is this: that love has within it a redemptive power. And there is a power there that eventually transforms individuals. Just keep being friendly to that person. Just keep loving them, and they can’t stand it too long. Oh, they react in many ways in the beginning. They react with guilt feelings, and sometimes they’ll hate you a little more at that transition period, but just keep loving them. And by the power of your love they will break down under the load. That’s love, you see. It is redemptive, and this is why Jesus says love. There’s something about love that builds up and is creative. There is something about hate that tears down and is destructive. So love your enemies. (from "Loving Your Enemies")

Amen
