That word WAITING - when I was younger I used to think it was a very bad word - lol
Do you know the second public message God instructed me to preach on was WAITING, the first was FORGIVENESS.
When God told me to preach that message, I was a bit unwilling to, because I knew that when the told me to speak on that word, it would test me first. I remember clearly it was the season when Juanita Bynum's song came out - "I don't mind waiting". I will share it with you here today.
As I began to "grow up" in God, I began to understand God's ways by even looking at nature. I began to realize that a mushroom can be grown in one day but it takes years to grow and Oak tree. The Oak tree is sturdy, resilient and the lifespan is an amazing 1,000 years.....just wow!
So perhaps while we wait, God is developing certain Christ-like characteristics in us. Those characteristics include patience, endurance and many more Christ like traits too.
Even Christ had to wait on God, when Lazarus died, he was moved in his emotions, he grieved just like we did. But he had to move in sync with God's timing. He waited 3 days before going to see Lazarus, but when he went, there came forth one of the greatest miracles that Christ performed on this earth - Lazarus was risen from the dead. Read the story in John Chapter 11. No doubt in man's mind when seeing this miracle, that there is a God who exists and that Christ was truly the Son of God.
So it is my friends when we wait in God, we will yet see one of God's greatest miracles manifested in our Life from the situation we walked through and not only that, God will bless us in the proportion to our waiting time.
Joseph waited 17 years
Abraham waited 25 years
How long have you waited? Be comforted and gain assurance today, as we wait IN GOD. Trusting him unreservedly.
Here are the benefits if we wait IN GOD
Isaiah 40
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth
Does not become tired or grow weary;
There is no searching of His understanding.
29 He gives strength to the weary,
And to him who has no might He increases power.
30 Even youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
31 But those who wait for the Lord[who expect, look for, and hope in Him]
Will gain new strength and renew their power;
They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];
They will run and not become weary,
They will walk and not grow tired.
Be expectant - God is coming through for you. May he grant us grace as we wait
Walk Good in Christ
Till we meet again
