Abiding in God

John 15:4-7 “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me, he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

Abiding means to remain or to stay.

For me it's the only safe place to be. There is so much conflict, tumult and turbulence in this world. How could we walk without God?

As I tend my gardens I begin to understand the concept of abiding. The flowers and plants bloom and grow so beautifully. They don't move from their position but remain fixed in good soil where they are watered. Staying in God (abiding) is not only imperative but life saving. If we are not connected to our source (the vine) we will begin the process of death, withering first, then drying, then Spiritual death. In comparison much fruit will be produced in our life and the life of others when we abide in him. Amen

One can be super busy with physical work but still abide in God's presence.

Here are the keys to abiding:

  1. Start your day by giving God the first fruit - your best and your all. Begin with thanksgiving and praise

  2. Search his word by doing bible study. First thing in the morning. This is Spiritual food and causes one to be built up and strengthened in the Lord.

  3. Expect to hear God's voice - his instructions and strategy for today and even vision for whats ahead. Don't move from the Prayer Closet until you hear from him.

  4. Be careful to do all God says, this will keep you on the straight and narrow pathway and lead you continually on the journey of the abundant life

  5. Keep focus. I don't know who saw the "Finding Nemo" movie but instead of the words by Dori "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming" let's just keep "Focus, focus, focus". Lots of things to distract us...offences, allsorts, just walk away (run away) from certain battles....just leave them all in the hands of the Lord.

  6. Expect challenges, that way one will not be blind sided when they come.

  7. Meditate and think on God's word. Spend as much time in prayer, not only talking to him, but listening to him more than talking and then allowing him to lead us when you hear is voice

Abiding is living for and in God's glory.

We have truly matured when we realize that we're on a journey - heaven is our final destination and the only way to get there is holding onto God's guiding hands ....abiding in him. The place of safety, the place of comfort, the place of receiving everything we need. The place of rest, peace and trust in God

There's no better place to be. Amen

Abbah Father

I pray that you will give us blinkers of faith. We have made up minds - we will not be moved. Keep us Lord as only you can keep us. Keep us by your mercy and grace. I pray Father that you will remove anything from our life that would distract us. Clear the pathway of any obstacles each day. Send help from the sanctuary your Holy Angels to fight for us and to minister to us. Cause us never to lack in any area of our life. Cover us with your feathers and hide us under the shadow of your wings. Continue to do your deep work of circumcision and sanctification in us. Close every door way to the enemy and open doors for us that no man can close. Empower us and enable us in each to fulfill purpose and walk in destiny in Jesus precious name. Amen

Walk good in Christ

Till we meet again
