It is a horrible thing to abort the prophetic destiny of an infant or unborn child. Last week I blogged on child sacrifice and posted a video of modern-day child sacrifice, hopefully your emotions were stirred to pray much more on this heartrending act.
Today I will focus on infanticide then gradually turn the spotlight on abortion.
Throughout history various ungodly motives for justifying this nefarious deed have been used.
It is found in both underdeveloped and sophisticated cultures around the world;
Poverty and population control in poor and underdeveloped cultures and contraceptive and birth control are among the self-centered and selfish reasons in sophisticated cultures.
In the, not so long ago, Eastern cultures particularly India and China, infanticide is likely to happen to females. It is also described as gender-selective killing or "gendercide". Men are usually the main income-earners, either because they are more employable or earn higher wages for the same work, or because they are able to do more agricultural work in subsistence economies, Also males are more desirable for fighting battles and wars.
Since male babies have a greater income potential,
Infanticide is less likely to happen to them. Thank God infanticide is now universally illegal.
Children are now protected by criminal law from assault, and other forms of violence by strangers but they are not very well protected from harm by family members.
Personally, I am surprised the unborn child is not protected in the sacred womb and some governments have justified legalized killings, by passing laws to accomadate and appease pro-choice advocate groups.
In Western countries abortion is ghastly, and more common than infanticide. Sadly, 98% of abortions are for contraceptive and birth control and only 2% of all abortions are due to rape and incest.
In this brief blog we cannot truly fathom or begin to imagine from past generations the millions of destroyed or aborted doctors, lawyers, scientists, engineers, inventors and leaders who had their prophetic destiny blotted out.
Just as one cannot count the number of hairs on your head, the number of stars in the sky or a handful of sand, we will never know the number of unborn babies murdered, the type, purpose, talents and potentials aborted.
If you or someone you know is planning on terminating a pregnancy we pray and encourage please don't, it is best to put up the child for adoption than live with regrets.
