Turn
I was given this word by the Spirit of God and it had me thinking majorly. I realized how important the word turn is in my everyday life. In our lives, the act of turning happens frequently. Whether it be a shift of the head, a full 360 turn or a small twist of the body, everyone consistently turns.
One of the Hebrew words for turn is Sabab, meaning to turn about, go around or surround. The first time sabab was used in the Bible is in Genesis 42:24, “and he (Joseph) turned himself about from them, and wept ….” This transpired after Joseph recognized his brothers who sold him into slavery. Turn is also used to define repentance. Acts 3:19, “repent ye therefore, and be converted (repent, then, and turn to God …. NIV), that your sins may be blotted out.”
With all that said, I must open up the other aspect of turn that the Lord showed me. Proverbs 26:11, “as a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.” Another meaning for turn is return or turn back. Many of us Christians are returning to the things of the world, turning back to the sins God took us out of. Considering these actions as ok because we are saved.
For me, I see myself on a potter’s wheel, that is constantly turning as God molds me into the person, He wants me to be, Jeremiah 18. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangle again with the yolk of bondage,” Galatians 5:1.
God Bless.
