To enter God's rest

Good morning dearly beloved

Entering God's rest - can this really be possible in this tumultuous world?

Yes it is possible because resting in God is a place of absolute hope, faith and trust in God. These three are not dependent on wordly circumstances, but come out of the flow of being in relationship with God.

He is a good father - that gives to his children peace and joy in every kind of situation.

Hebrews 4:9-11 says, So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest…

Now the rest of God is not a rest from work—it’s a rest in work. It’s partnering with God to do what He is calling you to do by His grace, and leaving the part you can’t do in His hands, trusting Him to do it. Hebrews 4:3 says it this way: For we who have believed enter that rest… So we start by believing.

Trying vs. Trusting

When I’m trying to believe, I haven’t entered God’s rest. But when I do believe, I have complete rest in Him. Living by faith is not a struggle—it’s rest. And you can enter into God’s rest in every area of your life.

Stress and worry comes about by how we approach and our attitude to our circumstances in this life. Nothing is ever too difficult to bear in this life because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Amen

Here is some supporting scripture:

Isaiah 26:3 ~ You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

The inference to draw from this verse is that God’s peace and rest can be ours if we choose to trust him.

How could the 3 Hebrew boys walk through the fire, Daniel face the lions, David face Golioth and Jesus take that cross?

A simple answer - because they trusted God.

These great Patriachs rested in God.

Let's look at the word rest in Hebrew and it's meaning:

We find the words for rest early in the word in the book of Genesis

The first word for rest, sabbat, literally means to stop, and the first depiction is God himself stopping in his task of creation. A little further, we see another Hebrew word for rest, nuakh, which can be understood as to abide or rest in.

May God deliver us from every self-effort from "trying" instead of trusting.

Father we ask you to cause our hearts to truly trust you. We have proved you time and time again. You have truly been good to us, you know our strengths and weaknesses, strengthen us where we need strengthening, grant us your grace where we need grace and your peace that passes all understanding. Take away fear, doubt and unbelief from us and cause us to experience your peace that passes all understanding. We choose to stay in your rest by continuing to trust you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Walk good in Christ

Till we meet again
