The Voice of God
My thought today is; we have much knowledge but very little experience. Much knowledge of the word of God but very little experience hearing His voice. As I went through the book of Genesis, it was evident the relationship the patriarchs had with God. Chapter 35 had me a bit envious; keeping it real, when it said in verse 13, “and God went up from him in the place where He talked with him.”
Are we hearing the voice of God today? Are we listening and being patient enough to wait on His response? We read the scriptures of stories like these but does it affect us to the extent of wanting to experience encounters like these? In Luke 12:48b the Bible says, “…. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: ….”. Gill’s exposition puts it this way: the more knowledge a man has, the more practice is expected from him; and the greater his gifts are, the more useful he ought to be and diligent in improving them.
In this case in Genesis 35, it shows the experience Jacob had with God. Even though he was originally known as the trickster, God’s favor was on his life. Because of the blood of Jesus, the middle partition is rented and we now have access to the throne of Grace. Are we using this access?
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever,” Hebrew 13:8. Our great God still speaks audibly. “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be open unto you:” Matthew 7:7. What about you, are you yearning to hear God’s voice, daily?
God Bless.
