The standard of loving God

Luke 10:25 -

25 oAnd behold, a plawyer stood up to qput him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to rinherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And he answered, s“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and tyour neighbor as yourself.” 28 And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; udo this, and you will live.”

I have been reading much about the judgement which came upon Israel and many times in our modern day, we put the blame on man for our hardship. Let us face this truth, God works in the hearts of men. The earth and all that dwell therein belong to him (Psalm 24:1).

It was well with the people whenever they served God wholeheartedly and when they turned away to other idols, judgement came. The judgement began with an intention to turn the hearts of the people back to a loving kind, gracious, merciful God.

But the people continued to serve other Gods, setting up idols consistently.

Today we may have idols - What is foremost in our heart? Is it the thoughts of success, wealth, the family, prestige, possessions, job promotion? What are we striving with and for? What is our priority in each day?

Well whatever is foremost in our minds and hearts will become the object of our worship.

Today let us return to our first love.

Prayer

Lord we repent for making any other thing or person our priority. We recommit ourselves to you Heavenly Father. We give you our all and our best. We surrender ALL. Thank you Father for restoring our soul. Keep us on track oh Lord, cause us never to look to the left not right.

In Jesus name

Amen
