The Giants must fall Part 2

Good morning my friends

This is the continuation of the YouTube message brought last week if you somehow missed here is the link

I just want to bring these points home to you about "Giants". In our modern day, we do not necessarily fight physical battles but the battles we face involve spiritual giants. I sometimes confess these words "Abbah Father this is bigger than me, only you can fight this battle and bring me into victory". It is the truth only God can bring us into victory.

Let us note the following:

The enemies of God's people were always larger in number, greater in stature and had more intelligent weapons.

But God's people always won, as long as they did all God said and continued to hide IN HIM.

It is the same for us in these particular times in which we live. We have:

  • Many enemies

  • Very powerful enemies as determined by man's standards

  • Enemies that may even group together

We must remember at all times the enemy is a spiritual enemy. Satan is relentless in his plan to destroy God's people. He comes to kill, steal and destroy.

But God is more powerful than any enemy and when they rise up against one who belongs to God - they have touched the "The Apple of God's eye"

Zechariah 2:8

For thus says the Lord of hosts, “After [c]glory He has sent Me against the nations which plunder you—for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye

Imagine this a small shepherd boy named David who couldn't even fit the traditional armour worn by the soldiers of his day killed the Giant Golioth with just a sling shot and a stone. Please read the account in 1 Samuel 17

I will post just a few verses here to give you a synopsis of the account given there

41 The Philistine came and approached David, with his shield-bearer in front of him. 42 When the Philistine looked around and saw David, he derided and disparaged him because he was [just] a young man, with a ruddy complexion, and a handsome appearance. 43 The Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with [shepherd’s] staffs?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44 The Philistine also said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the sky and the beasts of the field.” 45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a [n]javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. 46 This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47 and that this entire assembly may know that the Lord does not save with the sword or with the spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will hand you over to us.”

Let us expound a bit

  • In the Chapter before David was chosen and anointed by The Prophet Samuel to be King over Israel. The most unlikely candidate, who was not even presented before Samuel, but yet God chose him. God never looks at the outward appearance, he looks at the heart. We certainly see David's character being shown in this battle. As he took on this case not because it would benefit his own self but he defended the God of Israel. Will you be passionate about the things of God and fight to establish the Kingdom, no matter how many "giants" you may face? Make no doubt about it - it is what God requires of us in this season. ALL for the Kingdom and when we are fighting for God to be glorified - we will definitely be victorious. God has never lost a battle and he is fighting for us.

  • David was well prepared before he came for the battle. He already fought of a bear and lion single handedly to protect the sheep before facing Golioth. He was well skilled in using the sling shot and stone.

  • There is always order in God's kingdom, God sent Samuel to anoint David as King, then he took him through many years of preparation, before he reigned as King. God is moving you from glory to glory. We must wait on God's timing though and move as part of a whole army.

  • David was willing to do what God required, he humbled himself during those many years of preparation, hiding in caves, running for his life and during those "low times" he wrote many of the Praise Psalms. Will we like David be able to "Bless the Lord at all times, the praise shall continually be in our mouth?" Through harsh circumstances, through the crucible of the fiery trials WE WILL BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES! AMEN

Now as I prepared this message God led me to Psalm 33 this morning....I will share a few verses here.

16 The king is not saved by the great size of his army;

A warrior is not rescued by his great strength.

17 A horse is a false hope for victory;

Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon those who fear Him [and worship Him with awe-inspired reverence and obedience],

On those who hope [confidently] in His compassion and lovingkindness,

19 To rescue their lives from death

And keep them alive in famine.

20 We wait [expectantly] for the Lord;

He is our help and our shield.

21 For in Him our heart rejoices,

Because we trust [lean on, rely on, and are confident] in His holy name.

22 Let Your [steadfast] lovingkindness, O Lord, be upon us,

In proportion as we have [a]hoped in You

Our complete hope and trust is in the Lord our God. He will give us the victory - We stand before every giant and we say "WE COME IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!"

AMEN

Whenever we feel afraid oh God, move us to the place of trust in you, in Jesus name amen

Walk good in Christ

Till we meet again

Pastor J
