The Expression of Love by Minister Owen Mitchell

Saints of God, I come today expressing my love, love for God and love for you all. While listening to a story on love, I was captivated by this statement, “Love is Light”.

During a time such as this, love seems to be playing second fiddle to everything else in this world and in our lives. A lawyer asked Jesus in Matthew 22:36, “Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law? Jesus replied, “…. love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love they neighbour as thyself,” vs. 37 & 39. Is this love being expressed where its evidence is light?

There’s a song we sing, “Rooted and grounded in the name of the Lord”, suggesting that this is where it all starts. The expression of love starts with Jesus. In order for us to express love we have to have Jesus working on the inside of us. When Jesus through the Holy Spirit, works on the inside of us, love becomes evident through the light it produces. 1 John 4:8 says, “he that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is Love.

Galatians 5:22, “but the fruit of the Spirit is love, ….”, Paul names love first before naming the other 8 fruit the Spirit produces. All 9 fruit is suppose to be active in every believes life, it’s inevitable once the Holy Spirit takes residence in us. I was asked this question, why is it the Church is not showing love? The person went on to say, I think love is lacking in the Church. 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now abideth faith, hope charity (love), these three; but the greatest of these is charity (love).

God Bless.
