The Bow
When I was younger and growing up in Jamaica and rain was set to pour, we would always look up in the sky to see the rainbow. It was amazing to see this arch in the sky with all the different colors so perfectly organized. From that tender age I realized and accepted the awesomeness of the Creator of this bow.
In Genesis 9, after the flood that wiped out civilization; except for all that was on the ark, God made a covenant with the people. “…. neither shall all flesh be cut of any more by the waters of a flood: neither shall there be any more be a flood to destroy the earth,” vs. 11. This covenant established the visibility of the Bow vs. 13. Verse 14 says, “and it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud.”
Do we realize how privileged we are to have the Bible that discloses God’s love for us? I am reminded of how important the rainbow is to God and to us His children. It signifies God’s covenant between us and Him. “And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh,” vs. 15.
In this month of June, whenever you see the rainbow and its colors flying, please remember its spiritual meaning and not the secular adaptation.
God Bless.
