The Antidote to Anxiety

Writer's picture: Pastor JPastor J

Good morning dearly beloved

I believe one of the ways the enemy has been wreaking havoc is by stirring a Spirit of Anxiety in God’s people.

Let us get to the root of the problem.

Anxiety and worry are attached Spirits to fear.

Think on that carefully.

Here is what God says: He has not given us a Spirit of fear.

Now dear friends I too have been allowing anxiety to cloud my thoughts and emotions.

Let us look closely at the reasons one could have Anxiety

  1. Anxiety could result because of the following

2. We have moved out of God's will

3. We're focusing on what we don't have and 4. We've waited a long time for God's

promise to come into being

5. We've run ahead of God's timing

6. We've missed God's voice

7. We're looking too far ahead in anticipation.

Dear friends we all do all of the above at some point or other.

Here is the true antidote to anxiety

Contentment

Lord help us

Help us not to be anxious about those things we cannot change today

Show us Father how to cast our care upon you.

Think on this carefully look back to 5 years ago

Some things we became anxious about

  • We got them and they no more pique our interest, we rejoiced for a season and then we somehow put them "on the trophy shelf"

  • Many of those things we became anxious about we actually forgot about them. As God filled our lives with even better things

  • As we matured we learn more to trust God and know that when we are in the place of anxiety and fear it moves us from the place of trust and faith

I pray today God will really give us a heart of contentment and gratitude.

Let's look at these verses.

Phillpians 4

4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Lord help us today clothe us with the sound mind, a right heart and whole emotions as we choose to rejoice evermore.

May we truly have an attitude of gratitude at all times in Jesus name

Amen

Walk good in Christ

Till we meet again

Pastor J
