Today while praying I kept saying over and over "have mercy upon me O God" I thought about myself, my family, my community, my country and the church globally.
Let us pray Psalms 51...
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
The above was king David's confession of sins; adultery, deception, and murder of Uriah the Hittites.
In Psalm 51 the prayer is with intense emotions stemming from sin and its consequences of remorse, guilt, regret, and shame.
As we prayed the above pray I thank God for his everlasting mercies written in his words and are accessable for you and I.
God, is faithful, he keeps covenant mercy to the thousandth generation toward those who love him and keep his commandments.” (Deuteronomy 7:9)
“All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth toward those who honor his covenant and decrees.” (Psalm 25:10)
“The Lord waits to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.” (Isaiah 30:18)
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness"
(Lamentations 3:22-23)
God is so rich in mercy that he loved us so much that he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. Therefore, it is only by God's grace that we have been saved. (Ephesians 2:4-5).
Thank you Father God for your mercies.
