Swearing, cursing and using God's name in vain (pt 1).

Over the past few weeks I have been drawn to notice frequent swearing, cursing and the use of God's name in vain. This blog post is intended for God-fearing persons and Christians.

“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold guiltless anyone who takes his name in vain.” Exodus 20:7

Unfortunately in today's world it has become commonplace for individuals to swear, curse and use the name of God in vain regularly. On the television, on the phone, on the street, with friends, at work or at play, in books and magazines all over the world our Lord and Saviour name is blasphemed daily and cursing and swearing has become the norm. Sadly negativety and aggressiveness have saturated our media and this results in exposure to the increase in swearing and cursing. Even Christians now are using God's name wrongfully and impulsive without even thinking. Please be careful what comes out of your mouth because using the Lord’s name in vain is indeed a sin. Exodus 20:7 says " Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain". We are to always obey the third commandment. When we misuse His name we are dishonoring Him and showing a lack of respect.
