Self-examination

2 Corinthians 13:5 AMP

Test and evaluate yourselves to see whether you are in the faith and living your lives as [committed] believers. Examine yourselves [not me]! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves [by an ongoing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test and are rejected as counterfeit

Dear friends

These instructions are given and if we cross reference with Hebrews 12:1 there are sins which easily beset us. If we examine ourselves under the microscope of the Holy Spirit and the light of God's word, then we will truly remain humble because no matter where we grow to in God, there is still a great work to be done in each and every one of us. We are humbled because we recognise we are in the position we stand because of God’s great love, grace and mercy, not because of our own goodness.

We need to allow God to do that deep work of consecration and sanctification in us continually.

Believers are to examine their motives, their actions, and the current condition of their hearts to make sure they don’t bring God’s discipline on themselves.

Proverbs 14:12

There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him,

But its end is the way of death

I tell you the truth I have seen so many walk in the fruit of the error of their choices (Including "powerful" leaders) so convinced it was God’s will and voice - I pray this prayer quite often Lord keep me from walking in error

Psalm 19:12 - 14

12 Who can understand his errors?

Cleanse me from secret faults.

13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;

Let them not have dominion over me.

Then I shall be blameless,

And I shall be innocent of [g]great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

Be acceptable in Your sight,

O Lord, my [h]strength and my Redeemer

And to even further prevent error from operating in my life - I make myself accountable to Christian leadership, council and Godly acquaintances - who I listen to carefully even for reproof and correction.

Now dear friends the scripture verses quoted in the beginning indicate one CAN be rejected as counterfiet, some translations use the word disqualified.

I can tell you dear friends it is not hard to see what is in a man's heart simply look at the fruit - it actually "oozes" into our speaking and actions.

Is it Apape Love - unselfish, giving, sacrificial, longsuffering kind of love or is it pretentious love - the kind where one outplays actions because of religious expectations but it is never with sincerity of heart?

In addition what comes out of your heart when under pressure is it still love and mercy? Or is it anger, offence, rebellion, unforgiveness and malice?

Listen to these words carefully

Galatians 5

13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: [d]adultery, [e]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, [f]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [g]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Let us go before God in truth today with repentant hearts, he will receive us and cleanse us.

Amen

Walk good in Christ

Till we meet again

Pastor J
