Seeking God's Counsel

The Bible says in James one verse five, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” In asking God for wisdom you are partnering closer to God as you listen first and then take His counsel. Avoid impulsive actions and behaviours which can result in others questioning your motives, always communicate and collaborate. Talk to God and ask Him to show you His will and read your Bible. These things must be connected to making a wise and godly decision. God will never never ask you to make a decision that goes against His word. 1). Seek God's Counsel Prayerfully. In the song, "What a friend we have in Jesus, one verse says. "O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer!" The needless pains are results of personal choices, so it is very important we seek God's Counsel prayerfully to avoid future woes and regrets. The Psalmist says, I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. (Psalms 32:8). So my brothers and sisters seek God's Counsel prayerfully and he will guide you. 2). Seek God's Counsel by fasting. This is absolutely necessary and effective in getting God's counsel and advice, I personally remember many difficulties and it was the combination of fasting and prayer that God will and direction was received. "Your testimonies also are my delight,They are my counselors." (Psalms 119:24) 3). Seeking God's Counsel through reading of his words. "Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand. (Proverbs 19:21) The Bible cautions us from taking counsel from the ungodly, in Psalms one verse one says you are actually blessed by not walking in their counsel. Every day we make decisions and there are some decisions that keep us up at night. Some are life-threatening, and others life-changing and those kinds of decisions are scary and hard! Therefore it is vital as children and Christians to prayerfully seek our heavenly Father's counsel. "In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6). The first thing any Christian should do when faced with a decision is ask God's advice. The Bible reminds us not to lean on our imperfect human understanding, because that's often how regretful mistakes are made. So in all our ways acknowledge God and he will direct our path. Amen!
