It’s raining all around me, I can feel it, it’s the latter rain. Ride on Jesus, please send more rain, until we are wet, until we are soaked, in the latter rain. As this song belted out, I took note of one of the homeless men who came to get food and other necessities, George. George was a tall and slender built young man, who had a smile that could light up any dark and dreary room.
We arrived at Moss Park where a few of us from our Church, partnered with another ministry and George was already there. He had just received food and was sitting on a concrete partition. We proceeded to set up all the items that was donated, food, clothing, juice, fruits, sandwiches, pastries and snacks. The set up could not be completed without music. While the music blasted away, all of us took note of George because he was singing along. I was in so much shock, I could not believe!
All of us quickly came to the conclusion that George is special in the eyes of the Lord. This became extremely evident, when Marvia Providence’s selections started playing. Hear My Cry Oh Lord, It’s Raining, Satan Defeated and he was in another world. At the end of the night’s proceedings as customary for us to come together and pray. Who was there with us? George! As we prayed and ministered to others around us, the Pastor was led to asked George to say something.
He started telling us how he grew up in Church and in 2006 the Lord woke him out of sleep at 4am and gave him this word, “Seek The Giver Not The Gift”. He went on to explain that word with Matthew 6:33, “but seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.” George was led in the sinners prayer and TODAY, he is a new creation in Christ Jesus.
God Bless.
