Replace or Repair?
We replace our cars.
We replace our phones.
We replace our relationships.
This generation replaces many things.
Some replace their eyelashes for longer ones.
Some replace (bleach) their skin for lighter whiter shades.
And others replace external body parts for bigger or more curves.
This generation prides itself in materialism, self indulgence and self identity.
There are organizations that observe, target, track usages and gather information and intelligence on this generation's behaviors and habits through social media with the intentions for profit and exploitation.
These information gatherings are used to manipulate buyers and spenders on a gargantuan scale. Business conglomerates and large corporations are fueling the gravy train of replacing material objects instead of repairing.
Years ago while touring the Smithsonian an old tour guide proudly showed the first light bulb invented by Thomas Edison in January 1879. One of the visiting tourists commented that the bulbs at his house only lasted a few years. The old tour guide explained that in today's world profit and commercialization pushed manufacturers to lower the shelf life, which drives consumers to spend more.
In the good old days;
We repaired our cars.
We repaired our phones.
We repaired our relationships.
Older generations repaired many things.
"The Lord's disciples repaired their nets". (Mark 1:19 NLT)
Things were stronger and lasted longer.
In the old days mechanics repaired cars.
In the old days technicians repaired phones.
Husbands and wives repaired their relationships.
"Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age-old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach."
(Isaiah 58:12)
God didn't replace Jerusalem back then he repaired Jerusalem.
Unfortunately many individuals in this generation are replacing material objects, replacing relationships and replacing God.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."(John 3:16)
God did not replace us, God repaired us.
Are you planning on replacing something?
Are you planning on replacing someone? Pray first and seek God earnestly. Remember at times, repairing is better than replacing.
