Reflecting the image of Christ

Reflecting the Image of Christ

“I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me,” Galatians 2:20.

A friend and I had a conversation the other day. We spoke about some family members of his that are Christians. One of which is a Pastor and the other has been a Christian for years. My friend however, saw them in a negative way. Marcel, a non-Christian, saw these two men as not reflecting the image of Christ. He came to this conclusion based on the way they treated their family. You may ask, how does a non-Christian know how a Christian is to act? Marcel, judged the actions of a Christian by their fruit. Matthew 7:16, “ye shall know them by their fruits ….”

As a Christian, we are called to reflect the image of Christ through our actions, thoughts, words, so others may see the kindness, love and the grace that God has brought in our lives. In other-words, “…. shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you (us) out of darkness into His marvellous light,” 1 Peter 2:9. Reflecting the image of God is found in our relationship with God and each other.

I pray today that we realize that people are watching us. Watching to see if we are reflecting the image of Christ. Watching to see if we are setting good examples for others, “…. that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in Heaven,” Matthew 5:16. If I am not Christ-like at heart, if I am not becoming noticeably more like Him, I have totally missed God’s purpose for my life, David Wilkerson.

God Bless.
