Reflecting on Mother's Day by Marcel and Jacqueline Bruff

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate the joy of motherhood and also having a mother and knowing the warmth of her love. It may also be a day to quietly remember a Mum who is no longer with you, you feel the gap that her passing has left and you honour her legacy and all that she meant.

It is a day to think of Grandmothers and extended families and the link that mothers are in keeping family ties and traditions together.

Looking back over the past twenty four hours when the world celebrated mothers, I can't help but wonder if there is something more we could have done or say to the many mothers that sacrifice so much but receive so little.

The Bible consistently asks followers to honor and love their mothers and fathers.

Exodus 20:12, and Leviticus 19:3.

To be frank a day isn't enough to truly honor and show appreciation, the selfless love, sacrifices, and nurturing nature of mothers. It is a day to celebrate the profound impact mothers have on us as we journey onward with our lives.

The Bible teaches mothers to point children toward Christ by praying for them, modeling faith and character, and training them in wisdom (Prov 1:8, 29:15).

Personally I am a witness to the importance of mothers praying and interceding countless hours for a child's deliverance or a rebellious child.

"A man's work is from sun to sun, but a mother's work is never done."

Proverbs 31:28 says, Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.

Heavenly Father we thank you for all our mothers, I am grateful for our mothers and the unselfish love she gives continuously.
