God's Word warns us to stay away from gossip and people who do, the Bible informs us to guard our words when we speak about others!
Gossip can be defined as information about the behaviour or personal life of other people, often without the full truth revealed or known.
Gossiping damages a person's character and reputation.
"Gossip betrays confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much." (proverbs 20:19).
Gossiping can destroy someone's marriage, job, wealth, and family.
The result of gossip is always broken trust and hurt feelings.
As Christians we must avoid spreading gossip and say nothing unkind about others.
"Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless." (James 1:26)
The word of God is clear on gossiping;
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen" (Ephesians 4:29)
In today's world with easy access to communication by way of Social media platforms it is easy to get caught up in gossips.
"Gossip betrays confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret." Proverbs 11:13
It is best to use social media to spread the Gospel, evangelize, edify, exhort, comfort and advance the kingdom of God.
Heavenly Father I pray today we will discontinue and avoid Gossip, I pray the spirit of gossip will not consume and overtake us as proverbs sixteen and verse twenty eight says gossip separates close friends.
Dear Lord Jesus set a guard over our mouths, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips that we may not sin and destroy the lives of others.
