Prayer is a Lifestyle
“…. men (women) ought always to pray, ….” Luke 18:1. At all times, in all situation and as frequently as humanly possible, men ought to pray.
For prayer to be effective there has to be total submission. Recognizing our inabilities to exist in this life without the help of a Supreme Being. For a Christian our Supreme Being is God. Prayer then becomes an interaction with God our Father, through petitions and/or thankfulness. Prayer builds our faith, making us more dependent on Him for everything.
“Henceforth I call you not servants; ….; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you,” John 15:15. Friendship is a two way street and strives on communication. The song writer penned it this way; Now let us have a little talk with Jesus, let us tell all about our troubles, He will hear our faintest cry and we will answer by and by. Now when you feel a little prayer wheel turning, you’ll know a little fire is burning, you will find a little talk with Jesus makes is right.
God wants to be the preeminent person in our lives and His preeminence is confirmed with communication, “but SEEK ye first the Kingdom of God ….,” Matthew 6:33. “Pray without ceasing,” 1 Thessalonians 5:17. Meaning, even though we have structured times during the day to pray, God wants us to talk (pray) to Him just as we would with a best friend. By right, He is our best friend. Let us make prayer our lifestyle today.
God Bless.
