the changing culture in our world today influence character behaviour, we are now living in a world where self interest and self indulgence are forefront.
The Bible tell us that in the last days men will be lovers of themselves more than lovers of God.
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines self-centeredness as, "concerned solely with one's own desires, needs, or interests."
As we move further into the age of apostasy, godly qualities such as love and self sacrifice are scuffed at and the spirit of selfishess and self-centeredness grows within every nook and cranny of our world.
Recently a police superintendent being interviewed on the 7 O'clock news, made a public plea for empathy for others . He said this in light of some citizens who instead of lending a helping hand would instead be caught videoing and taking pictures of dead people on scenes of accidents for social media likes.
The Bible reminds us also, that we should “do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others” (Phillipines 2:3-4).
Let us think about what we would like, or dislike, for ourselves. Remember, the other person thinks and feels like us.
Loving our neighbours as we love ourselves is scriptural.
In order for Christians to survive it is important that unity and selflessness prevail among us, the body of Christ prospers and grows in togetherness whenever this happens, no one will be left out and no one will be in need.
Each individual gifts and talents benefit each other. As we give to others without selfish agendas, we receive in return as our brother looks out for us also without any selfishness attached. This is how it works for the entire church as we grow as a whole.
We pray against self-centeredness which is attached to pride that destroys whomever get caught up in it web.
