One of the most detailed verses of the Bible that summarizes the Gospel of Jesus Christ is 1 Timothy 3:16
"For without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
The mystery mentioned here is not something incomprehensible, but was hidden until God revealed his divine will in the Gospel. However,
throughout the old testement there are multiple verses that give hints to the plan of our heavenly Father to redeem Adam's fallen race.
In fact, Amos 3:7-8 tells us that "God does nothing in the earth unless He reveals His secrets to his servants the prophets." In Genesis 6:11-19, God told Noah, his chosen, that he would destroy the earth. God also revealed his plan to Moses and used him to rescue Isreal from Egypt.
There is no doubt that the gospel, given to the saints of Jesus Christ, is a mystery that was indeed revealed at the appointed time. It was revealed through creation, through Jesus Christ, through the church and through history.
The mystery revealed, is that God wants to save mankind from sin, death and hell. It is the gospel preached through Jesus's life on earth, his sacrificial death and his resurrection. The church continues to preach the gospel, telling sinners about Christ, and winning souls for God's kingdom.
Next week I will go further into summarizing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
