Master the Mind (Proverbs 4:23-25)
"Do not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."(Romans 12:2)
In today's world there are multiple distractions and many things around us to influence our thoughts. However the Bible gives us answers on how to control our thoughts.
“You have two choices: to control your mind or to let your mind control you.” — Paulo Coelho.
Surrounding ourselves with positive things and Christlike, Christ-centered friends will indeed help us in so many ways, with immeasurable benefits. This is why Hebrew 10:25 emphasizes the importance of not forsaking the assembly of the brethren.
Above all, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life. Don't bend the truth or say things that you know are not right. Keep your eyes on the path, and look straight ahead.
(Proverbs 4:23-25)
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
(Colossians 3:2-5)
Whenever we gather together as the body of Christ, we are to stir each other up in love and encourage one another in our faith. This is one of the primary tools to control our thoughts.
Proverbs 27:17 proclaims: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
When we sow a thought we reap an action.
When we sow an action we reap a habit.
When we sow a habit we reap a character.
When we sow a character we reap a destiny.
It is of paramount importance to control our thoughts that ultimately influence our overall destiny.
Negative thoughts produce visible consequences. Not controlling our thoughts can destroy our destiny.
As such the word of God says, “Take every thought captive to obey Christ"
(2 Corinthians 10:5).
‘Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my God my strength, and my redeemer.’ (Psalm 19:14)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)
Dear Lord Jesus, I pray that You will help us take every thought captive and think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. In Jesus name I pray. Amen .
