Topic: Man is Fallible, God is Faultless
Dear Bondservants and slaves of our master Jesus Christ, who laid the foundation of his church. We are encouraged to remain humble, faithful and do justice to our fellow brethren.
"He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?"(Micah 6:8).
Years ago during the new pastor's succession to my church, he told us in his ordination speech that the shoes of the deceased pioneer bishop were big shoes to fill, and he was privileged to be a servant among giants.
The following Sunday morning when we arrived at church the two high chairs the pioneer bishop and his wife used to sit on were removed from the pulpit to the upstairs conference room and were replaced with ordinary chairs like those used by the rest of the church and choir.
This was a good lesson and an example for me. This act showed humility, simplicity and reminded me that Jesus was the central focus of church and in our lives.
God doesn't judge us by our academic achievements, or celebrity status, nor because of the privileged families that we may be born in. "Not many mighty, not many noble are called" is a verse from 1 Corinthians 1:26. Titles have become idols to many.
Celebrity Christians falling from grace shouldn't cause us to reject God.
Strong Christian leaders and mentors dying shouldn't cause us to stop seeking and serving the eternal God.
If our spiritual mentors die, God is still our source.
If our spiritual leaders fall, God is still holy.
What truly matters is faithfulness, doing God's will and holy and righteous living according to His rules and for His glory, for the advancement of His kingdom.
God doesn't judge us by the miracles we perform but by the lives we live. He doesn't judge us by the gifts we possess but by the fruit of the Spirit in us.
While working hard here on earth to get a skill or profession is commendable, the only thing that will surely last is how we live and what we do for Jesus.
While the nine gifts of the spirit are beneficial and valuable for the body of Christ, the fruit of the Spirit exposes the character of an individual operating within these "giftings".
Miracles, signs and wonders doesn't mean the person performing them is in good standing with God.
Proclaiming the Gospel and winning multitudes for God's kingdom is good but it would be sad if that very soul was told, "away from me I know you not"
1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV
"I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."
Our God is a God of order and protocol. He is no respecter of persons. The ground at the foot of the cross is level. God is just and balanced.
At the end of the day God will not judge us by the amount of miracles performed or demons cast out, but by how we live, how we act and what we say. The provision of salvation is deliverance from sin, only by faith in Christ alone.
Without the right character, without integrity, we are not going to be pleasing to God or worthy of his eternal kingdom.
