Low-hanging fruits

Low-Hanging Fruits

As Christians, we often find ourselves striving for spiritual growth and seeking significant accomplishments in our faith journey. However, in our pursuit of greatness, we might overlook the small, yet significant, blessings and opportunities that surround us. These are the "low-hanging fruits" that God provides, ripe for the picking.

In Matthew 13:31-32, Jesus teaches, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches."

Sarah was a busy working mom who felt overwhelmed by her responsibilities. She longed to make a significant impact in her community but couldn't find the time. One day, while driving her kids to school, she noticed an elderly neighbor struggling to carry groceries. Sarah took a few minutes to help, sparking a conversation and discovering a shared love for baking. This chance encounter led to a weekly baking session, where Sarah and her neighbor shared stories, laughter, and encouragement. This is an example of small, yet significant, blessings that can be easily overlooked. Sarah in this situation became a blessing and was also blessed through this new found relationship.

I have listed three Practical and moral Applications of low hanging fruits below to help as a reminder that oftentimes the easiest and reachable tasks are important as the greatest works in the kingdom of God.

1. Start small: Identify low-hanging fruits in your daily life, like helping a neighbor or listening to a friend in need.

2. Be present: Embrace the present moment and look for opportunities to serve and show kindness.

3. Cultivate gratitude: Recognize and thank God for the small blessings, which will help you stay grounded and appreciative.

In Galatians 6:4-5, Paul reminds us, "Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else... for each one should carry their own load."

The low-hanging fruit is not just easy to reach, it's also the most accessible and often the most impactful." - Andy Stanley.

By embracing the low-hanging fruits, we acknowledge God's presence in our lives and open ourselves to His guidance and blessings. Remember, it's the small, consistent actions that can lead to significant growth and a deeper connection with our Heavenly Father.
