" Loose Slippers”
"He must increase, but I must decrease." - John 3:30
A renowned celebrity hired a personal assistant to manage her schedule and affairs. One day, while preparing for a red-carpet event, the assistant realized she had forgotten to polish the celebrity's shoes. Panicked, she hastily grabbed a pair of shoe polish and began to work on the shoes, but accidentally spilled polish on the celebrity's expensive gown.
Ashamed and feeling unworthy, the assistant apologized profusely. The celebrity, however, gently replied, "Don't worry, I don't need perfect assistants; I need willing hearts." The assistant realized that her role was not to seek perfection but to serve humbly.
John the Baptist's words echo through the ages: "I am not worthy to loosen the straps of His sandals" (John 1:27). This humility is essential in our service to God and others.
as Christians, we must be humble in our service, recognizing our limitations and unworthiness.
Scripture reminds us:-
"For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive?" - 1 Corinthians 4:7
"The greatest among you will be your servant." - Matthew 23:11
"We are ambassadors for Christ." - 2 Corinthians 5:20
Modern-day, prophets, bishops, apostles as well as Christian celebrities must remain faithful and humble.
The following are 3 reminders for us.
1. Recognize our role as a servant, not a celebrity.
2. Seek to decrease self and increase Christ.
3. Humble yourself before God and have compassion.
As we strive to serve God and others, may we remember John's humble declaration: "I am not worthy." May our hearts be filled with humility, and our actions reflect the servant hood of Christ.
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You, acknowledging our unworthiness. Help us to decrease self and increase Your glory. May our service be marked by humility and willingness. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
