Luke 15:11-32, speaks of the Prodigal Son’s life changing experience. A backsliding son who walked away from a relationship with our Heavenly Father to satisfy his own personal desires. This act of walking away exposed him to a life of sin, which drove him to his lowest point in life. Verse 16 says, “and he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.”
I was privileged yesterday to accompany some saints of God on the mission field, this was my third time going. This outreach program has opened my eyes so much, it is “Life Changing”. We meet and pray for people that are at their lowest point in life.
Every two weeks these saints would travel from their place of comfort to place riddled with drugs, prostitution, homelessness, lewdness and the list goes own. We encounter people that lives in tents year in year out, whether summer, fall, winter or spring. Even in the midst of this pandemic we see God’s people without masks. If they happened to be wearing one, it’s dirty and sometimes not on their face properly.
Unlike the prodigal son, who knew our Savior and the benefits of having Him in his life, many of these people have not had an experience with Christ. These lost souls would come down in numbers when they realize we are there. We take with us tracks, clothing, food and food items, especially soup and give to them. Brothers and sisters, some of them are so drugged out they can’t even stand properly. Isn’t this what the Lord meant when He said in Mark 16:15, “…. go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
My prayer is that as we go and minister, that they will realize the value of having Jesus in their life. That they will be awakened like the Prodigal son and say, “I will arise and go to my Father ….,” Luke 15:18.
God Bless.
