The ways of the cross differs so greatly from the ways of this world. The minute we are born we begin the fight for survival. As we are grown the patterns we are taught dictate survival of the fittest and the richest.
We are taught to make the best and hone out the best for ourselves in this life. It so opposes the ways of our Father, that requires that we not only give but to truly reflect Christ, one learns the art of sacrificial giving and service in all areas of our life.
God transforms our heart with love and automatically when God really brings us into the place of full conversion our life no longer becomes about me, my or I. Our life becomes about community - the we and the our. Our life lived out of the flow of God's Spirit becomes about loving others as we love ourselves.
Yes as the word says:
Acts 20:35
Amplified Bible
35 In everything I showed you [by example] that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed [and brings greater joy] to give than to receive
