Is Our Sacrifice Pure
“…. that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God which is your (our) reasonable service,” Romans 12:1.
Sacrifice in it’s simplest definition, means an offering to God. A sacrifice is not an obligation but something we choose to do. It’s an expression of thanksgiving. When we sacrifice it must be holy, without blemish or defect, this is the only sacrifice God deems acceptable. The child of God is to offer, or present himself before God, with all his or her living energies and powers, directed consciously to God’s service.
I gravitated to this scripture after reading Malachi 1, this chapter placed a different prospective on Romans 12:1 to me. The Lord through Malachi rebuked the children of Israel and their priest because of the sacrifices they were offering up to Him. They offer polluted bread, blind, lame and sick, “….is this not evil ….,” says God, Malachi 1:7&8. God went on to say in verse 11, “…. and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen….”
Is our sacrifice pure? Are we giving God our best? Are we sacrificing our entire being to God and the building of His Kingdom? If not, this will be the consequences of our action; “but cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a corrupt thing: for I am a great King ….,” Malachi 1:14. Is your sacrifice pure?
God Bless.
