Introspection by Minister Owen Mitchell

Zechariah 7:10, “and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.”

Are you where God wants you to be in Him? This question riddled my thoughts last night while we were driving back home from being in the ministry. Every second Wednesday a group of us goes downtown Toronto to feed the poor, the homeless, the drug and alcohol addicts. We also bless them with clothes that have been donated. More importantly we feed them with the word of God and pray for them.

While in the ministry yesterday, it’s like I saw everything that was wrong. My eyes was fixed on the homeless’ hands and fingers with all the bruises. Some of them, their finger tips were swollen, black and blue. It was the first time I saw so much of people without teeth and some had just one tooth at the front of their mouth. I caught myself pulling my hand back, being very reluctant when giving them the food, not wanting to touch them. I had to move away at times to pray, confessing to God and asking for strength to be like Him. I was the weakest in the group because everyone else came in physical contact with the people. Laying hands on them and praying for them.

I heard the Lord clearly ask, “is your life reflective of Me, does your life replicate Me, does the Church resemble me?” Introspection! Take a deep dive into yourself, “are you Christ like?” Matthew 25:40, “and the King shall answer and say unto them, verily I say unto you, Insomuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

God Bless
