IF is a choice
This powerful word if was impressed on me through a prayer partner this morning. “Hear, O my people, and I testify unto thee: O Israel, If though wilt hearken unto me;” Psalm 81:8.
Deuteronomy 11:26-28a, “behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of Lord your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if you will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, ….” The word If is one of the most important words in the Bible because it speaks directly to our responsibility to God. Most promises are conditional and is accompanied with the word if. The principle of the Bible is, if man does, then God will.
If, a choice God have given us through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If we will obey, if we will trust, if we will hear, if we will listen, if we have faith. If signifies security in our Heavenly Father. “Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth,” Mark 9:23. If is like a ruler, it measures our confidence in God. How would I know if it’s possible, without asking? How would I find if I do not seek? How would I know God’s ability if I have not totally surrender? “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land,” Isaiah 1:19
If you only know the blessing that salvation brings, you will never stay away. If you only saw the table fill with lovely things you will come to the feast today, If. “While it is said, To day if ye will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation,”Hebrew 3:15.
