I Can Do All Things through Christ….
Got up this morning and this verse came to my mind, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me,” Philippians 4:13. But can I?
I have heard this verse of scripture recited so many times, especially when the issue of accomplishing our goals is argued. Philippians was written by Paul when imprisoned and in verse 12 Paul spoke of being satisfied in whatever situation he finds himself in. Ironically, the verse is actually saying, I can bear anything because of my reliance on Christ. In-other words, if Christ takes me to it, He will take me through it. With Christ in the vessel, I can smile at the storm.
In Acts 9:16, the Lord told Ananias that He will show Paul how much he must suffer for His name. 2 Corinthians 11 proves the suffering Paul had to endure, how much he laboured, the beatings and the imprisonments. It shows Paul being stoned, being in shipwreck, in perils of water, perils from robbers and fellow countrymen, perils from heathens and the wilderness and his suffering went on and on. 2 Timothy 2:12, “if we suffer, we shall also reign with Him ….”
The song writer puts it this way, ride out your storm, because God is with you, you may not feel Him, but you are not alone, you’re hurting now, but your morning is coming, just hold on to Jesus and ride out your storm.
