I am only Human by Minister Owen Mitchell

Please allow me to make a confession. It’s a struggle daily to stay on the pathway the Lord has placed me on. The Bible states, “….we wrestle not against flesh and blood, ….”, Ephesian 6:12. It further states, “for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

I had a conversation with a friend the other day and we spoke about our Christian walk. The image my friend portrayed was one of perfection or as she said “striving for perfection”. This worthy saying is a phrase I have gravitated to since becoming a believer in our Lord God Almighty. But I quickly realized, it’s by no means a walk in the park. Jesus said in Matthew 5:48 during His message on the mount, “be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.”

The idea of perfection in Matthew 5:48 implies that of the attainment at the end or ideal completeness of our being. In other-words, this perfection is eternal when we draw nearer and become partakers of His divine nature; if we love, as He loves. This verse concludes chapter 5 and is set as a discourse commanding His disciples to be perfect. Perfect here commonly means finished, complete, pure and holy.

Saints of God I echo the words of Paul when he said in Romans 7:21,”I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.” Many times when situations arise, I try to present an image on the outside that suggest, “I was not phased by that” a strong man image, when I am dying inside. The thoughts that rear their ugly faces are less to be desired. This is why I need God so much, I cannot walk this road without God by my side.

Lets not condemn each other when we fall because, “…. he that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone ….” John 8:7.

God Bless
