I am blessed, I am blessed, every day of my life I am blessed. As I wake up in the morning, and I lay my head to rest, I am blessed, I am blessed.
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the way of the scornful,” Psalm 1:1. The book of Psalm started with this benediction, “blessed is the man” meaning, happy is the man or blessedness belongs to that man. We have to be purposeful in our walk with God. We have to be aware of where we stand and sit because we are Christians. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new,” 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Matthew 5, the sermon on the mount started with Jesus teaching the multitude, which began with “Blessed”. Irrespective of what’s happening, we must be resolute because the promises of God are conditional. Being new creatures, we are expected to not walk in the counsel of the ungodly meaning, people living in neglect of God. Standeth in the way of sinners, these are those that break out in open rebellion against God. Sitting in the way of the scornful, these openly defy all that’s sacred, they scoff at religion.
Are you blessed? These activities mentioned in Psalm 1:1, suggest and signify where many of us are coming from. But now that we are new, our “…. delight is in the law of the Lord; and in His law doth he (we) meditate day and night. Also and most importantly being blessed produces fruit, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness temperance, Galatians 5:21&22.
