I Am A Slave
The word servant, meaning slave, brings such a negative connotation to the mind. These words cement a reality dating back centuries ago. The prevalence of it in our society today is causing some much division; to the extent of people fighting for reparation monies. The world is so racially divided.
Paul, arguably one of the most influential writers in the Bible, called himself a slave. This very controversial and stigmatized word was used by Paul to describe himself. In Paul’s epistle to the Philippians, the Romans, Titus and Philemon, he introduced himself as a servant and a prisoner. In Philippians 1:1 he stated, “Paul and Timotheous, the servants of Jesus Christ ….” In Romans 1:1 he said, “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ ….” Titus 1:1, “Paul a servant of God ….” and in Philemon 1, “Paul a prisoner of Jesus Christ ….” Prisoner here also means servant.
I have never felt so comfortable to call myself a slave. I am a servant, a slave of God through Jesus Christ our Lord. I am sold out, dedicated, fully submitted and committed to Him. Ready to do whatever the Lord asks of me. This is Christianity, being transformed and allowing ourselves to be led. Being a slave is being subservient to a dominating influence and in Christianity this influence is God.
Are you a slave to God?
God Bless.
