God's favour surrounds us as a shield

Good morning dearly beloved

Remind yourself today and every day I am surrounded with God's favour as a shield

Psalm 5:12

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;

With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Amen

As I lay in bed at 1am talking to and listening to God he impressed the words above upon my heart to share with you but these three words in particular "popped" out at me - surrounded, favour and shield.

This verse speaks to so many situations in our life even to our very positioning and identity in Christ. When we understand the magnamity of this verse it will change our very perspective on life as we begin to understand that no matter what "curve-ball" life throws at us - as we are the righteousness of God (blood washed, walking in repentance and obedience) we are favoured by God so ALL things will therefore work for our good and his glory.

So let us begin to expound on those 3 words.

Favour: is the grace of God in our lives. In fact, the Old Testament often uses favor and grace interchangeably. The definition of grace is the unmerited favor of God, and favor means acceptance, goodwill, and preferential treatment

Surrounds: means to enclose on all sides; to encompass; to encircle. Just think on this for a few minutes....God chooses to put his favour all around you. Receive that in faith. Make these words encapsulate your mind and thoughts. Meditate constantly on these words, knowing too that God is with you at all times. May he give you such a deep revelation of his favour for you and rivet it in your heart and soul.

Let's just thank him for his favour.

Shield: The word for "shield" in this verse does not refer to the small, round shield mentioned inPsalm 3:3. The word here istsin'nāh, which refers to a "standing shield"—a massive barrier, like a door, which covered a soldier's entire body. God's favor is not small but large. His protection is sufficient to keep believers safe at all times, and according to His will.

Psalm 84:11affirms what David wrote inPsalm 5:12. It promises, "The LORDGod is a sun and shield; the LORDbestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly."

Please "run" with these words today. Meditate on them and speak them aloud as often as possible:

I am favoured by God, I am surrounded with his favour as a shield, I am never defeated, God is always with me. I am an overcomer because I am in Christ.
