The first line of the psalm speaks about - "to dwell" leading into "Abiding"
This will make the meaning of abiding clear.
The biblical Difference between Abide and Dwell
When used as a verb abide means to endure without yielding, whereas dwell means to live. Abide means to endure without yielding, to withstand, await defiantly, to bear patiently, to “stand”, to continue in a place, to wait expectantly, to remain stable or fixed
Let us now expound on UNDER THE SHADOW of the almighty
The SHADOW indicates there is a place of protection.
Shade, shadow overshadowing come from a similar root
The word is frequently used as a symbol for protection and refuge
The shadow is more than a shelter it is more than just a place of shade.
It is a hiding place that one can enter and no longer be visible to the outside world. Those of us engaged in intensive spiritual warfare ie. The ministry of deliverance will certainly understand this concept of being “hidden”.
We all need to have a revelation of the covering and protection God gives us.
To receive anything in the Kingdom however we must first ask in faith, this is a spiritual principle that governs all the laws of the kingdom. After asking we should then declare his word of protection.
Psalm 91 is about God's protection and his spoken (Declared) word certainly invites heaven to act on our behalf. Declare it (only by God's leading though) over ourselves, family and all that concerns us.
We are in a daily SPIRITUAL battle and we need to ask God for everything we need to equip us in this intensive daily battle. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood.God will cover us but we have got to choose to stay...to abide in HIS secret place.
So the question then is can one come out of that place?
Yes!!
Sin separates us from God whether you are a Christian or not.
Whether you have been a Christian 5, 10, or 40 years you can sin so
we need to keep short accounts with God. Repentance is an ongoing process.
Here is a chapter that will give you clear meaning on this
Hebrews 10 NLT
10 The old system under the law of Moses was only a shadow, a dim preview of the good things to come, not the good things themselves. The sacrifices under that system were repeated again and again, year after year, but they were never able to provide perfect cleansing for those who came to worship.
2 If they could have provided perfect cleansing, the sacrifices would have stopped, for the worshipers would have been purified once for all time, and their feelings of guilt would have disappeared.
3 But instead, those sacrifices actually reminded them of their sins year after year.
4 For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 That is why, when Christ[a] came into the world, he said to God,
“You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer. 6 You were not pleased with burnt offerings or other offerings for sin. 7 Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God— as is written about me in the Scriptures.’”[b]
8 First, Christ said, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings or burnt offerings or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them” (though they are required by the law of Moses).
9 Then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect.
10 For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.
11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins.
12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. 14 For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.
15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,
16 “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day,[c] says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”[d]
17 Then he says,
“I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”[e]
18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.
19 And so, dear brothers and sisters,[f] we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.
20 By his death,[g] Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.
21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house,
22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.
27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies.
28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us.
30 For we know the one who said,
“I will take revenge. I will pay them back.”[h]
He also said,
“The Lord will judge his own people.”[i]
31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ.[j] Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering.
33 Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things.
34 You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever.
35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!
36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
37 “For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. 38 And my righteous ones will live by faith.[k] But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”[l]
39 But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.
Stay in God’s presence my friends there is much around us that Could distract.
In this season we are being shaken, all that is familiar To us seems to be changing and quickly too.In God’s presence that is where we will have rest and security.
Do not respond to the other DISTRACTING voices:
Where is your God now?
Those promises will not come to pass
World systems are taking over
Famine is coming
You’re going to die by COVID 19
I clearly heard the voice of the Lord yesterday saying whenever there was crisis a great move of God always followed. God manifested his power and his glory
Eg: The children of Israel facing the Red sea and the Egyptian army behind
After God delivered them. He was glorified
Exodus 14 NLT
30 So the Lord saved[g] Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 Thus Israel saw the great [h]work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses.
Exodus 15 NLT
14 “The peoples have heard [about You], they tremble;
Anguish and fear has gripped the inhabitants of Philistia.
15 “Then the [tribal] chiefs of Edom were dismayed and horrified;
The [mighty] leaders of Moab, trembling grips them;
All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away [in despair]—
16
Terror and dread fall on them;
Because of the greatness of Your arm they are as still as a stone;
Until Your people pass by and [into Canaan], O Lord,
Until the people pass by whom You have purchased.
Even the surrounding nations knew there was a real and living God after the Exodus.
The 3 Hebrew boys thrown into the fire and when God delivered them His glory and power were manifested
Daniel 3 NLT
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel to rescue his servants who trusted in him. They defied the king's command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.
29 Therefore, I make this decree: If any people, whatever their race or nation or language, speak a word against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, they will be torn limb from limb, and their houses will be turned into heaps of rubble. There is no other god who can rescue like this!"
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to even higher positions in the province of Babylon
So many other instances in the word indicate a great move of God after a crisis:
After the crucifixion
there was resurrection then Pentecost!
The Kingdom increased exponentially, some days 3000 souls came into the kingdom in the Early church
We eagerly await God’s deliverance. We who are attune to the spirit of God are expecting THE GREAT MOVE OF GOD AHEAD
MARANATHA COME LORD JESUS
MANIFEST YOURSELF IN ALL YOUR GLORY LORD
Amen and amen
Walk good in Christ my friends
Till we meet again
