Life's experiences can bruise and wound, but God promises that he will restore our soul.
The soul is the place where the memory of hurt and pain is kept and as the soul is the place of our emotions that is where we experience hurts, pain and woundedness.
God made a way for us to be healed but it takes time. We may not understand God's ways but just as we have physical wounds that take time to heal so it is with emotional wounding.
He will never override our choices though, so his instruction is we should first forgive then let go so that the healing process can start. Those are two different processes.
How so? We can forgive as a step of obedience and never mean any harm towards the individual who brought the hurt and pain, but we may not let go. We keep replaying the incident over and over in our mind, until it becomes the measure for which we evaluate all other individuals. We somehow think we can self protect by building walls and a fortress around ourselves.
Truly all we have done is locked ourselves in a prison, thus negating the process of healing from happening.
Let's begin today to truly forgive and then letting go....letting some people off the hook. Moving forward with our lives because freedom to worship God is greater than keeping any record of wrongs.
It requires grace, but if we ask God he will help us to forgive and let go.
Take those steps into freedom today. LET GO off those old wounds hurt and pain.
AND
When we let go....we find there was something even more beautiful on the other side of these past events
