"..while they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body." Matthew 26:26.
The sudden death of father, brother and son was very difficult for pastor Jerome Bullard; the deaths across three generations of the Bullard family was hard.
Looking back, pastor Bullard said, “I hurt through my daddy’s and brother’s funerals, but I never hurt like I did with my son. I’ve never been able to sympathize in this kind of deep way with someone who loses a child, but I can now because there’s nothing like it, nothing like losing a child."
Out of the brokenness, pastor Bullard now with empathy serves others who experience grief through the death of friends or loved ones. Pastor Bullard has become the go-to guide in the community and church for persons experiencing loss.
"We have this Treasure in Earthen Vessels, that the Excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."
2 Corinthians 4:7
Through the journey of life when we don't feel we have anything to offer because of our personal losses and tragedies, that's when God uses our brokenness to serve others.
"Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. "
I've listed three Bible verses, showing Jesus bless, break than serve, this symbolize that God uses the process of breaking us before we are qualified for service.
Jesus "took bread, blessed and broke it and gave it to them; their eyes were opened and they recognized him."( Luke 24:35)
So a deeper revelation, a more meaningful understanding of why we had to be broken first before servable.
Through our experiences of brokenness we become aware of God's purposes.
Spiritual maturity is recognizing why we went through what we went through; it was for God's glory to serve others.
