Father to the Fatherless by Marcel & Jacqueline Bruff

🎶"It was the third of September🎶

That day I'll always remember, 🎶yes I will

'Cause that was the day that my daddy died🎶

I never got a chance to see him🎶

Never heard nothin' but bad things about him🎶

Momma I'm depending on you to tell me the truth🎶

Momma just hung her head and said, 🎶son

Papa was a rolling stone

Wherever he laid his hat was his home🎶

And when he died, all he left us was alone"🎶

This song was written In 1971 by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong. The song was included on the undisputed truth's album, Law of the Land in (1973).

While the original Undisputed 'Truth version' of the song has been largely forgotten, the Temptations' version of the song has been regarded as an enduring and influential soul classic.

In reality there are many unfortunate reasons for father absencism including imprisonment, infidelity, physical and emotional abuse. Other times, the social demands, insufficient financial means and lack of achievement, affects the fatherly role.

Currently in our world today, millions of children grow up in single parent homes without fathers. Divorce is at an all time high, according to the American psychological association. It states that, approximately 50% of all first marriages end in divorce, and second marriages have a higher divorce rate of 67%.

Recent surveys and studies suggest that approximately 20 to 25 percent of Christian marriages end in divorce, with higher percentages reported among millennials and younger generations of believers.

A thirteen year old boy growing up in a single parent home felt fatherless for many years, until one day he heard the Lord's prayer in church, "Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name.." (Matthew 6:9-13).

The boy said to himself, "I may not have an earthly father, but I have God who is my heavenly father"

A burst of emotions filled my entire being when I heard the 13 year old boy express from his lips who the real father is.

Full of love and compassion for every child born or aborted, God is the Father of the fatherless.

"The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness (Jeremiah 31:3)

Truly our heavenly Father is eternal and his love is everlasting.

Heavenly Father thank you for reminding us that you are father to the fatherless, thank you for the gift of adoption through the blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, you are a father that will never leave us nor forsake us. You welcome all your children into your blessed promise as it is not your will that any should perish but all should come to repentance.
