Exterior and Interior
“And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head: also he armed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them ….,” 1 Samuel 17:38-39.
David had a face-to-face interview with Saul, in which he presented him with his resumé. After the interview, the job to take down Goliath was his. King Saul proceeded to armour David with his army’s battle attire. It was extremely uncomfortable for David because he never tried it out before, he never tested the armour. The Bible said in verse 39, “and David put them off him.”
Saints of God, David realized it wasn’t about a fashion statement, a beauty pageant or his arrival to stardom. It was all about defeating the enemy. David also made it known to the King, whose he was and who he was. “David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear; He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine,” vs. 36-37.
Brothers and sisters, I pose this question to you, does your exterior reflect your interior or visa versa? “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof, from such turn away,” 2 Timothy 3:5. David’s exterior reflected his interior, it reflected who he was. Is your exterior a reflection of your interior?
God Bless.
