Do we really know what it means to be a Christian?
Do we really know what it means to be a Christian? A question that has caused me much pondering. A question that changes the way one looks at life.
Romans 3:23, ”for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” But do we take advantage of the fact that we sin at times? Do we purposely sin, even though we know that our actions are not pleasing to God? Does self get the better of us, disregarding the statues of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Are we selective when to be and when not to be Christ-like? Rejecting the Spirit of the Lord that guides us into all truth, John 16:13.
For the last couple weeks, I have had encounters with Christians that has led me to this question. Nonchalantly and without remorse we say and do things that’s not Christ-like. Disregarding the scripture in Ephesians 5:8 which say, “for ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” Forgetting Micah 6:8 which says, “…. what doth the Lord require of thee but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.” Do we really understand what it means to be a Christian? That is my question to us today.
“For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself and goeth his way and straightway fogetteth what manner of man he was,” James 1:23-24.
God Bless.
