Differences between a stage and an alter by Pastor Tiveen Perry

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A STAGE AND AN ALTAR

1. A stage is for performance; an altar is for worship.

2. A stage is for competition; an altar is for completion.

3. A stage is for personal accolade; an altar is for the glory of God.

4. A stage is for wooing a frantic crowd; an altar is for serenading the King of kings.

5. A stage is for dishing popular sentiment; an altar is for repentance to a Holy God.

6. A stage is for selfish ambition; an altar is for selfless sacrifice.

7. A stage is owned and operated by man; an altar is built by man in obedience to Almighty God.

8. A stage is where everything “appears” perfect; an altar is where the imperfect is made perfect by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

9. A stage is where man ascends; an altar is where God descends.

10. A stage’s focus is professionalism; an altar’s focus is spirituality.

11. A stage presents and markets an image; an altar molds character.

12. A stage is for recognition of human excellence, skill, and ingenuity; an altar is where worshipers humble themselves in God’s Holy presence.

13. A stage is where stars gloat over the camera’s glare; an altar is where sons and daughters lie prostrate, struck by heaven’s glory.

14. A stage is where the spotlight illuminates the performer; an altar illuminates the Great Creator.

15. A stage is where living beings are offered to onlookers as entertainment; an altar is where sacrifices are made to the Lord God Almighty.

16. A stage is where performers dazzle the crowd with outward appearance and performing skills; an altar is a place where servants come to be changed, revived and restored from the inside out.

17. A stage is where superstars hog the limelight; an altar is where everything else pales in light of the majesty of Jesus Christ of Nazareth . . . the Living Word . . . the King of kings and Lord of lords!!!

Churches need more ALTARS and less STAGES!

May God continue to illuminate our hearts and minds, for His glory; amen.
