Did You Ask God?

“And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the Lord,” Joshua 9:14. This happened after a group of men approached the children of Israel, wanting to make a peace treaty with them. Did you ask God, did you take counsel from God?

I am of the belief that after accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we tend to feel unimpeachable. We are our own men and women. We possess the ability to make our own decisions. But, 1 Corinthians 6:20 refutes that thought, “for ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

As children of the living God, we must understand that communication is necessary for our relationship with God. Every decision we make will affect us spiritually, whether positively or negatively.

The princes took the victuals the men who came to Joshua had, so as to examine the truth of what they where saying. After which they realized that they were from the neighboring city, one of the cities God told Joshua to wipe out. The repercussion of Joshua and the princes’ decision was not seen until Joshua 11:19-20. Nevertheless, a precedence was set by God for us, then and now; we must ask the counsel of the Lord in every decision that’s to be made.

In concluding, they are repercussions for every bad decision we make. But I implore us today, talk to God in every situation we face. Did you ask God?

God Bless.
