Daniel 2:27-35

A past high school-mate from my old student association WhatsApp group who is also a Muslim, made a statement and asked a few questions in the group. In one of the posts, he gave information on the many accomplishments and achievements of the Ottoman empire that have not received recognition from westerners. The following is a letter of my responses from one of the many questions. Good morning Khan, thank you for replying and your quick response, indeed in the past Europeans have distorted and ignored the story and accomplishments of others and only highlighted and glorified in themselves. However, three of the five civilizations (Babylonians, Media Persia, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans) I have mentioned are not western. Babylon, the birthplace of the Ishmaelite and Israelite byway of Abraham's lineage These eastern geographical empires including Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Africa. Assyrian, Media-Persia...etcetera, are all eastern civilizations. I read books and watched videos on the Ottoman Empire, their inventions, preservation and advancement in knowledge, arts, science (mathematics, astronomy) and healthcare such as surgical instruments forceps, scalpels, and catheters, medicines to cure, heal and numb-pain. I am also aware of Europe's dark ages and the Renaissance, the rebirth of learning. Dear Khan, my main purpose of response to you was not to highlight the important accomplishments of man or the historical legacies because the Bible predicted that all these empires will eventually be in dust of ruins and their achievements forgotten. My response was to remind you of the coming awesome splendour and appearance of his majestic, Jesus Christ the Alpha and Omega, true and ever living God, our Almighty Creator. Glory to God! who is the self-sufficient, self-sustaining one who will restore (as it was in the beginning so shall it be in the end) what mankind has distorted, ignored and corrupted. While it may be impressive to read and watch the many historical achievements of humans, eastern or western civilization. One day all that will mean nothing. I presume that you are a spiritual minded person, correct me if I am wrong. But what God has in-store for those who are faithful and obedient with love to him, eyes have not seen ears have not heard, neither have it entered into the hearts of man the things that God has prepared for those that love him and are called according to his will. (John 14) the glory that shall be revealed will out-shine any earthly empires past or present. As a Christian l look forward with anticipation and all eagerness to the returning saviour Jesus Christ, who will free us from this temporary world of sorrows and woes and will give us each the rewards of eternal life more abundantly.
