Controlling our thoughts by Marcel & Jacqueline Bruff

In today's world there are multiple distractions and many things around us to influence our thoughts. However the Bible gives us answers on how to control our thoughts.

"Do not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."(Romans 12:2)

Surrounding ourselves with positive things and Christlike, Christ-centered friends will indeed help us in so many way, the benefits are immeasurable. This is why Hebrew 10:25 emphasizes the importance of not forsaking the assembly of the brethren.

Whenever we assemble as the Body of Christ, we are to stir each other up in love and encourage one other in our faith. This is one of the primary tools to control our thoughts.

When we sow a thought we reap an action.

When we sow an action we reap a habit.

When we sow a habit we reap a character.

When we sow a character we reap a destiny. It is of paramount importance to control our thoughts that ultimately influence our overall destiny.

Negative thoughts produce visible consequences. Not controlling our thoughts can destroy our destiny.

As such the word of God says, “Take every thought captive to obey Christ"

(2 Corinthians 10:5).

Let the words of our mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my God my strength, and my redeemer.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Lord, I pray that You would help us take every thought captive and think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy
